1st May 2013 - The “Instagram Act”

Just to inform my followers on here that I will not be posting artwork or photographs of my work until I have decided how best to tackle the recent copyright changes.

Termed the “Instagram Act”, legislation has been put through parliament to allow UK artists’ works (including photographers and illustrators amongst other creatives) to be taken and used without the author’s permission if an effort has been made to seek the owner’s identity.

Essentially this means that someone can strip the copyright from your hard work, claim ignorance of the author, and do whatever they want with it, for personal or even commercial uses, and it will be LEGAL. This is a big change in human rights and copyright law that has had little coverage.
