I decided to redo one of the illustrated spreads for my non-fiction book and this is the result!

The owl itself is a large paper-cut with collaged paper placed underneath to give colour. Shading is added with pencil crayon. The background is a combination of collaged papers, posca markers and pencil crayon, with delicate line work for the radar. The text is black pen stippling on white card. I used Photoshop to layer up each collaged layer. Very pleased with this outcome now that it has been interpreted slightly differently.

Figured my dad would appreciate this particular entry.

Using my somewhat primitive but strangely satisfying mapping skills I have devised an early draft plan of the ideas we have had for the degree show illustration festival at uni.

Inks, mechanical pencil, pencil crayons and paint markers on assorted collaged card and paper, edited in Photoshop.

Progress is happening on my Non-fiction book on scientists and inventors. This is my first proposed completed spread, minus text.

Watercolour and biro on white card, watercolour and felt pen on cartridge paper, tea on cartridge paper, squared paper, pencil crayon, tracing paper and fineliners, edited in Photoshop and layout constructed in InDesign.

Sunday 9th March 2014

Working on some ideas for my non-fiction book, a section on John Logie Baird.

Watercolours, biro, and tea on cartridge paper and bristol board, edited in Photoshop.

Tuesday 4th March 2014

Currently looking at John Logie Baird and his contribution with the invention of mechanical television, eventually leading, as I understand, to the development of television as we know it today.

Research for my non-fiction book on scientists and inventors. Excited to learn more!
